About Me

I used to work on magazines as a video game journalist and editor, then I moved on to being a photographer at a classic car company.

I love animals, politics and history. I've recently started badly lathing wood and trying my hand at odd little things like candle making, so if you've got a hobby you love I'd really like to give it a try!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love listening to people talk; no life is truly boring and I find it truly humbling to listen to how others have lived. This seems a good way to meet new people and maybe make some friends. Also I'm hoping to learn some new ways to cook and languages to speak.

If I'm to be a bit too honest home is filled with memories of loss that I'd like to put some distance between and approach with love again. I also feel I've stagnated and lost my way a bit, personally plus career wise, so I'd like to be out there meeting people again, learning and finding new things to be excited about!

Music, Movies, and Books

If we're going by albums Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and Tango in the Night are strong choices. Otherwise my music taste is a mess of styles and genres that I find hard to pin down.

The Blues Brothers, The Man From Nowhere, Oldboy, Gone Girl, Blazing Saddles, 21 Jump Street, Lord of the Rings.

Anything Terry Pratchett, a few odd history books here and there. My book reading has fallen by the wayside as I scatter jump around articles I get linked to online, but I recently picked up Murakami and quite enjoyed it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once built a bespoke chandelier for a millionaire, which they then took down after a week. Sorry I guess that's more sad than amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn all there is about your culture & country from your perspective, both the positives and the negatives. If there's any hobbies you like doing, no matter how small, I'd like to give it a go. If you want to expand your English vocabulary or somebody to edit your work in English I'm more than happy to help.

I'd love to learn how to cook outside my comfort zone, and to be more than mono-fluent by learning language with a local. I find it easier if I'm immersed and at the deep end with a need to know the language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will pay my way with my own food, and hope to cook or learn to cook something for you. If you need help with manual work or just odd jobs and cleaning I'm not the strongest person but eager to pitch in.
