About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoying Salzburg's beautiful riverside

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Salzburg, Austria, went to a school with an emphasis on creativity and art and made my final examn there (the so called "Matura"). After serving as a civilian, I moved to Vienna as soon as possible. Salzburg might be a beautiful city, but it's also provincial and conservative, all in all no place to stay for a person like me. I simply needed to go to a major city and Vienna was the obvious choice. Now I don't regret my decision at all, I enjoy the opportunities you have here, the people you meet and that there's still a lot to discover.
I always had a hard time making big decisions. After a long time of hesitation I started studying physics, but didn't like it at all and therefore switched to history of art after just one semester. Kind of a major change, but I'm happy I did so.
I love living the life of a student and everything that is connected with it, especially the diversity: Sometimes you got a lot of work to do for university, sometimes you don't (or most of the time hehe), sometimes you have a job, sometimes you don't, sometimes you have a lot of money, sometimes you're broke (because you spent it all on beer, cigarettes and clothes), sometimes you get along well with your flatmates, sometimes you fight with them. Being a student is simply great.
I think I'm friendly but can be moody, try to have no prejudices, generous when I have some money, like to cook, to draw, to do sports, to be surrounded by people, enjoy sleeping 'till the afternoon, can be lazy at times, love spring and summer, can cope with autumn and hate winter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Want to host as much as I can and will hopefully find enough time to travel a lot.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to the platform. Already had some CS-experiences, without CS though, and always had a great time with it. Looking forward to surf and host a lot.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Jim Jarmusch and Stanley Kubrick must be some kind of gods, otherwise I couldn't explain the existence of films like "Down By Law" or "2001: A Space Odyssey".

Music: Despite many people think that one can only be one – either Beatles or Rolling Stones – I think I'm both. Doors, Queens, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Abba, Cat Stevens, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash & Willie Nelson.
Electronic music: certainly the most exciting field at the moment, so much going on there: Minimal/Deephouse/Techno; Electro-Pop like Hot-Chip, the Postal Service or James Figurine. Indie/Rock/Pop: Shins, Eels, Bishop Allen, Death Cab, Deus, Nick Cave, Feist, Black Rebel M. Club, Kings of Leon, Metric, Phoenix, the Knife, the Whitest Boy Alive, John Frusciante and many more.

Books: I read less than I listen to music. My favourite authors might be T.C. Boyle and Orhan Pamuk. Don't like fantasy or science fiction (though "A Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" was really good).
