ABOUT ME

I'm a 23 year-old portuguese guy, the older of two brothers. I just recently graduated from Medical School and am going to start working as a doctor in January, which has been my lifelong dream ever since I was 3.

I have to admit I am sort-of a geek, in both my interests and my awkward social skills. Don't worry, though, even if I completely suck at reading and understanding people, I always strive to act towards others with the respect and honesty I like to get from them.

Family is a huge thing for me, as are the friends I have.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a secular humanist, believing in the brutal reality of mortality and the absence of an afterlife, which makes me want to live life to the fullest and leave my mark on the world, by making it slightly better, even if, ultimately, the best I can do is to make people smile. Smiling make humanity's teeth shine, and we could all use some more brightness in the world, don't you think?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

By the time I created my CouchSurfing profile I had actually CoushSurfed before, in Berlin, which was a great experience and really made me want to dive head-first into this community.

兴趣

I'm interested in science in general: I particularly enjoy Medicine (obviously), Biology, Chemistry and Quantum Physics.

I like to travel. A lot. Every time I go to a new place, I always try my hardest to do and see the most I can, especially if the place I visit is very different from what I'm used to. Oh, and eat - I'm a very curious eater!

I like music, mostly Metal. I also have a great interest in TV series, some japanese manga and video games (I currently own a Wii).

I am an avid Metal fan. Now, don't start frowning (unless you too are a Metal fan - in that case \m/), my taste in Metal has evolved quite a bit since I started getting into the genre, and I'm far from the stereotypical metalhead. My favourite bands, at the moment, are ISIS (unfortunately disbanded), East of the Wall, Rosetta and Giant Squid.

I enjoy quite a lot of TV series, from drama (Breaking Bad, Dexter), Sci-fi (the Stargate franchise) all the way to comedy (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld), just to name a few.

My favourite books are 1984, by George Orwell and Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley. I guess dystopias push my buttons.
