I am a jazz guitarist and a contemporary classical composer from Istanbul, Turkey. I currently live in Durham, NC pursuing my PhD in Music Composition at Duke University. Aside from academia, I also worked in Hollywood between 2004-2007 and composed music for film and TV shows on ABC, WB and Lifetime networks. I toured Europe and Turkey as the lead guitarist with a pop singer for 3 years. I was an AFSer in 1998-1999 (American Field Service student exchange program) and lived in Washington, DC along with friends from 55 other countries. Next year, I volunteered as a chaperon for incoming students from all over the world. I have traveled to Poland, France, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Holland, India, and Japan. I have friends from all over the world and would love make new ones while I travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to meet and hang with locals while I travel for conferences and festivals. It's a much better way to spend mornings and evenings instead of a sad hotel room.
