ABOUT ME

phD student in linguistics at ucla, studying grammar change and its tie to social action. i also study korean, japanese, and german.

people say that i'm easy-going, relaxed, and flexible. my friends think that i have an amazing gift of falling asleep anywhere and at anytime. i've been blessed with southern california weather all my life so i don't do well in the cold.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i've hosted a lot of people in the past but these days i'm so busy with school that i'm hardly ever home now. so for now, i would prefer to show people around who don't know LA very well. LA can be a very intimidating place for the newcomer.

兴趣

i enjoy languages. i'm fluent in korean and know enough japanese to blend in without any problems. I'm at various levels in chinese, italian, and german. hoping to tackle turkish and mongolian sometime in the future.

i love cities. there's always something to do, people to meet, places to go to, and different foods to eat. other hobbies include coffee, architecture, and riding my bike through the streets of los angeles.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

mongolia. experiences include not showering for 27 days, losing 10 pounds, drinking fermented mare's milk on multiple occasions, riding a camel (i don't think this is special to some people but to us city dwellers it is!), driving our car through a herd of gazelles, and spending 6 weeks in unspoiled, vast, and beautiful stretches of plains and deserts.
