About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Inspire and be Inspired.

ABOUT ME

At heart, I'm a traveller and a writer. I have a strong passion for both and I've done quite a bit of travel journalism. When I got married and settled down, traveling was put on hold. So I turned towards another passion - the stage.

I wrote a stage play about my travels and for over ten years I've been touring the country and the world with my musician partners, reliving my travels on stage. It's called "The Wandering Israeli" ("Ha-Israeli Hanoded" in Hebrew) and this is our website: http://www.wandering-israeli.com.

In order to support my family, I also directed my writing skills towards building a Website which has been quite successful. You could probably Google my name and find out more about that if it interests you. This is my personal website: http://www.shippony.com

My wife and I have three beautiful girls and I work from home. Sharing the same roof with four women is... well... quite hectic! So now that the girls are bigger, I'm back to traveling (and taking a break from being full-time Dad).

As part of my travels, I always try to learn the local language (I've lived in Peru to learn Spanish, in Jordan to learn Arabic, CS'd Russia in an attempt to learn Russian.) For me, traveling is about the people I meet, much more than the places I visit.

I don't smoke (but am not bothered by people who do) and I don't drink hard liquor.

PHILOSOPHY

All of our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd rather couchsurf than go to the most luxurious of hotels any day.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Throughout my years of extensive traveling, I guess I did a lot of couchsurfing before it was actually called "couchsurfing". I couchsurfed for a month in Russia during May 2013 and it was an awesome experience!

Interests

I could write so many things here: Languages, culture, food, music, travel, theatre... but I guess that all these come down to... People. People are what interest me most.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to choose just one amazing thing. But if I must, then it'll probably be rowing down the Congo River in a dugout canoe for almost three months...

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I'll be glad to help with whatever I can, including the languages I know, online marketing and the basics of how people earn a living on the Web, and anything else that pops up.
