ABOUT ME

Currently London based and a bit late to traveling but hoping to make up for lost time. Have recently been to India which was an amazing experience - the colours! The people1 the food! the landscape! Having worked for a wildlife charity for a while I have recently gone freelance as a landscape designer but aim to incorporate my passion for biodiversity and sustainability in the work that I do. I love landscapes and open spaces. I live on a dutch barge called Vrijheid (Dutch for Freedom) on the River Thames in central London which some days feels like a privilege and other days feels a little too rocky as it is busy and tidal!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to the scene but hope to experience new cultures / landscapes and to assist people to fulfil their aims for CS'ing. Hoping to do it in a way to embrace and enhance the world while leaving a minimal footprint

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far through this site but I have been the lucky recipient of amazing hospitality from people I hardly know in the travels that I have done. Most recently in Southern India where the warmth and friendship extended was quite humbling.

Intereses

Keeping up with my dutch barge, Vrijheid, keeps me quite busy. But I love landscapes - natural and created, large and small and hope that I will be able to design some myself to be proud of. I take French lessons and read and paint when I can and spend time hanging out with friends. My cat, Vera, is quite a special companion who has many human fans!

Música, películas y libros

Coen brothers movies spring to mind - although they are a bit hit and miss. The EELS are my favourite band in the world and Dean Martin has a special place too but I also really appreciate silence. I am a bit of a nerd and have lots of plant and landscape books but also love to read a wide variety of fairly low brow fiction - recenty finished Maggie O'Farell, Paul Auster and Patrick Gale

This is hard and may change when I think more about it but most recently a local bus ride at dusk through the Indian Western Ghats was a profound experience - the natural beauty, authentic bus experience and pride in myself at finally traveling on my own rather later in life than I had anticipated combined to be a memorable occasion.
