ABOUT ME

Hi Everyone!

I'm Elana and I'm currently 23 years old. I'm a recent college graduate. I spent the last 4.5 years working towards both a bachelors and masters in mechanical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. I'm pretty psyched to be done (because it means I can travel), but I'm not looking forward to starting the real world (less time for traveling).

When I was 9 years old, my parents took me abroad for the first time. Ever since then, I've had the travel bug. I try to travel each chance I get and I've been very lucky to have opportunities to visit many amazing countries. My most current travels have led me through India, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam over a four month period.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For right now, I'm just looking to be hosted. I've been traveling for 3.5 months and once I return home I'll have a few months in South Carolina until I'm settled into real life in California. Once I'm there though, I'd like to host people who are in my area. In the meantime, if anyone happens to be passing through Spartanburg, I'd be happy to show you around.

One amazing thing that I've learned through traveling is that there are fantastically interesting people around every corner and sometimes in places that you don't expect. I want to make even more of an effort to meet these people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't actually had my first experience yet, but I've heard a lot of good reviews from friends. It seems like an amazing way to travel and I'm looking forward to trying it out for the first time when I visit England in May.

I enjoy cooking. I'm no expert, but I do have a few items I'm fairly good at - pound cake and peanut butter balls. I'd love to share recipes and learn new ones!
