ABOUT ME

I tend to make funny noises, whistle silly tunes, jump around, and quote cartoons when I feel comfortable somewhere.

On the whole I think I'm a quiet, easygoing person, a bit of an introverted nerd. I'm not really a go out partying kind of guy, but I enjoy having a few beers with some friends every once in a while.

For fun I like to read a book, relax with some movie or TV series, or play games. Many kinds of computer games will do, but I also like to play all kinds of tabletop games, such as Magic: The Gathering, Munchkin, Robo Rally, Runebound, Dominion, etc. I also like climbing a lot (so far I only do indoor toprope).

PHILOSOPHY

Despite being a slightly nihilistic misanthrope I have an almost naive trust in humanity and have made it my life goal to enhance our understanding and quality of life.
I've studied a lot to get where I am now and I hope that in the future I can be part of important, or at least cool & interesting, research that somehow serves mankind, and the world it lives in.

It's okay to kick back and relax every once in a while.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not new to the concept of CS, but I am new to participating.
I hope to start gaining experience by visiting friends I already know, as well as future friends!
Currently I do not have a place to call my own, so I am unable to host at the moment.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I can't say much about my current experience, since so far I only went to visit friends I already knew beforehand. Hopefully when I have money to travel or my own place to host that will all change!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am capable of enjoying a variety of stuff, but of course I have preferences when I pick something myself.

Music: currently it's mostly (instrumental) post-rock & metal, but it changes a lot at the moment.
Books: generally a medium to escape this world, so I usually read fantasy or science fiction. The Wheel of Time is my all-time fave, and I am currently in the tight grip of A Song of Ice and Fire.
Movies: same as books, an escape. Therefore I often just pick flashy action or scifi to distract me. I have sincerely enjoyed arthouse movies though, it's not like they repel me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A month long Interrail experience through Central and Northern Europe.
