ABOUT ME
Hello fellow couchsurfers, warmest greetings!
I come from Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. At the moment I'm a MA student at Heidelberg University studying Transcultural Studies.
I find myself generally quite easy-going and welcoming. Maybe this trait comes from the East Asian culture? Most of the time I'm pretty willing to help and cooperate with others as long as the requests are clear, straightforward and not too demanding. I try my best to be kind to others and expect to be treated in the same way.
I probably won't be labeled as talkative but am always ready for something deeper. Discussing social, political and cultural issues with people from all walks of life/ different parts of the world seems to me pretty enjoyable. I would say this is the best thing about couchsurfing!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
WHY I'm HERE
Couchsurfing for me is not just about saving hostels cost. Rather, it allows me to travel in a down-to-earth way. I like talking with locals in my trips and figuring out how they think, what they like and how they live their lives. Couchsurfing is an ideal way to reach the people who are kind enough to share these with me. ;)
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Joining local CS meetings as well as surfing and hosting!
I'm now living in a Wohnheim here in Heidelberg. In fact my room is not that big, but still, if you really can't find anywhere else and don't mind sleeping on the floor, we might be able to arrange something out.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed in 2 friendly hosts' places so far! But it's enough for me to conclude that surfing is always the best part in my trip.
Interests
I'm just an ordinary person with average interests. I love spending time in the kitchen, with the nature and burying myself in books. I enjoy watching movies and going to theaters too; I guess I like stories in all kinds. Oh and I started to like hiking during my stay in Germany.

Music, Movies, and Books
Okay I guess everyone has a lot to talk about in this section, isn't it?
For music I'm always a 60's rock fan! Generally I enjoy Kinks, Jefferson Airplane, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan and their fellows. I like Beatles too. I noticed that I could do all the housework without getting tired as long as there's lovely 60's music playing on. In addition to this genre, I'm also broadening my horizon by trying to listen to some hip-hop and post-rock.
For movies, I'm always willing to try some indie films. Jim Jarmusch's "Paterson" is one of my all-time favorites. Coming from east Asia, I'm also a loyal fan of Hou Hsiao-hsien, Jia Zhangke, Wong Kar-Wai, Hirokazu Koreeda, Miyazaki Hayao and Ghibli studio. I like how the works of these directors/producers inspire me to meditate on the essentially important issues of life. But it's not like I only watch those hipster films, hahaha. I also enjoy those epic ones pretty much. For example I'm totally fascinated by Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I wonder which is more amazing--Hitchhiking all the way down in Ireland, or being dare to learn German....
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach some basic Chinese! I love languages. If you are interested, I can also tell you more about the culture, history, and fun facts of Taiwan with a deeper insight. Also I'm willing to share how I experience Europe as a foreigner from a total different culture.
I cook too. Perhaps not very professional but at least edible hahaha
By the way if you happen to love music, we should never forget to exchange our playlist. ;)
