About Me

CURRENT MISSION

At the moment, to connect with people and to experience and learn from as many different cultures from around the world as I can. After quitting my job, I also spent the last 16 months traveling, exploring, visiting friends, getting caught up on projects, and exploring what it's like to not be perpetually overwhelmed with my endless projects and adventures!

ABOUT ME

I'm told that I'm an open-minded, "super chill" yet outgoing and adventurous guy with a silly sense of humor. Supposedly INTJ but I also crave and find it hard to say no to social opportunities. Try unwrapping that mystery! Community, friends and family are all super important to me.

I'm a brewer, dreamer, chef, creator, burner, and overall endlessly curious DIY extraordinaire. I love weeks-long backpacking trips in the middle of nowhere, wild foods foraging, snowboarding, and a slew of other outdoorsy things. I also can't help but find myself sucked into random DIY projects pretty much all the time. As a shining example, I spent last summer fabricating the infrastructure and brewing 120 gallons of kombucha for a burning man kombucha bar theme camp I started. I also enjoy growing my own food, spending movie nights with housemates, overseas hostel-jumping, nights out dancing, and designing/building things of all types. Bass music, house, and low tempo grimey dubstep are some of my jams, but I'll dance to most anything. And there's really....so much more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think one of the biggest things I'm after these days is connecting with new and interesting people, new experiences, and hopefully gaining a more culturally enriching experience in the long run. However, in the future, I would love to host others in my own home once I have the capacity to do so!

I also participate occasionally in local couchsurfer meet ups in my hometown of Seattle, where the community is actually really active!

Interests

They are endless. Welding, cooking, brewing, woodworking, car repair, 3d design, music, games, electrical tinkering, movie nights, cooking, backpacking, wild foods foraging, primitive skills, dancing, music festivals, traveling, language, community....If I could have fewer interests and less FOMO, I would probably sleep a lot more.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lord of the Rings, Zoolander, The Big Lebowski are all classics. Arrested Development has to be the most re-watchable show ever, but somehow still haven't seen past season 3. Recent shows for me have included JoJo's Bizarrre Adventure and the Mandalorian. My music choice of late has been largely electronic, a lot of Dimond Saints, Clozee, Opiou, Troyboi, Soohan, Khiva, etc. Also still love my old favorites like the Mars Volta, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Eminem, Buddy Rich...and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent 9 months traveling through Latin America a few years back. Some great experiences from that! I recently spent a couple months hiking through the French and Swiss alps with 11 of my friends which was equally amazing, and earlier this year I spent a month in Scotland and Ireland as well,

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share a glass of wine, good conversation, and take you sightseeing or partying if you’re my guest, and hopefully you would do the same for me :)

Happy to share any knowledge or skills I may hold about brewing, cooking, wild foods, biology and ecology, music, burning man, kombucha, and whatever else strikes your interest!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hmmm...What can I share? Only what I know, I suppose...I can share what knowledge I have of the outdoors, connection with nature, primitive skills, and anything in my interests list. I can of course share my knowledge and experience growing up in the northwest corner of the US, in a unique area, the Olympic Peninsula, a beautiful wilderness of plants, animals, lakes, streams, and quite literally the most fertile land for trees in the world. I know a good deal about electronics and computers, and even music. I love projects and building and making and tinkering with things so I seem to have a bit of knowledge about a lot of different things. I'm not sure what to put here to be honest....Rack my brain and I'm sure you'll find something interesting.

Oh, and I am a pretty good cook with some pretty good recipes, so I'm always happy to share that :)
