About Me

I’m Elias! I’m 21 and am an independent, freelance journalist who is very interested in people’s autonomy and power. I am very low maintenance (like… very lol), and am always open to chat about ANYTHING! I love being with people and hearing about their lives. I am a big listener, but can make some rapport on the spot lol. I hope to be a friendly presence in your home where you pick my brain about anything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For this coming December 2022, I’m taking a tour around the rust belt and appalachia to talk with unions about the present state of things in the region. I myself want to become an ironworker after college! Would love to get to know people in the area as well while researching these things :)

Interests

Soccer, making playlists on spotify, studying labor history, djing sets for my friends and dorm parties, learning languages (trying to learn portuguese and quechua!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled Latin America to study various social movements popping up across the region in the summer of 2022

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m a first-generation Stanford student whose frankly burntout by college. This independent journalism i do has helped reinvigorate my love of studying the world. I am always open to share the stories I’ve observed in Latin America and just my thoughts about what it means to be working class in the USA.
