Hi, my name is Elisa, but my friends call me "Ellie". My hometown is in a small town in Alaska, USA, but I moved around to many different states including, Hawaii, Montana, Arizona, Washington, California, Georgia, and Tennessee. I am a hair stylist by trade, temporarily volunteering as a English teacher on the tiny island of Ebeye in the Marshall Islands.

My father, grandparents, and aunt are all from Denmark. Growing up as a child, they did their best to teach me about my Danish heritage and I believe it inspired me to want to know more not only about my own Danish culture, yet cultures from all over the world. So what can I say? I enjoy getting to know people from all different backgrounds and cultures! I believe the more I learn about the world, the more accepting and understanding I can be as a fellow human.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get to know the locals of a country I'm visiting and any fellow travelers. The people I have met traveling have taught me so much about culture, life, and inspired me in many ways to live my life more fully. Some of the people who have become my closest friends, were those I met while traveling. You never know what kind of connections you'll make with a person and I think the possibilities are thrilling.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach ~ I can teach English, how to crochet, vegan/vegetarian style cooking, and how to style hair (not cutting because I can't bring my cutting shears in my carry-on when I go on the plane. Sorry!)

Learn ~ I would love to learn some new languages, cultural traditions, and how to bake something from the country I visit.

Share ~ Jokes (Good and fun humor is my favorite). Life is so much better when you're laughing. I can make delicious Mexican food and some awesome guacamole (if you don't know what guacamole is or never tried it, let me introduce you to it) for you. My talent of baking is something I would like to share, whether it's bread, cookies, muffins, pastries, etc. So if you like baked goods, I'd like to make you something sweet. I would love to share stories of my travel adventures.
