About Me

I am currently not in Belgium.
(November 2023 - february 2024)

last update: August 2023
back from hibernating in Turkey.
probably my last 3 months in Bruges ever.

--------
As my info is not up to date anymore I'll adjust (august 2023).
My full name is Kathleen Elisabeth but Elisabeth is easier to pronounce so I decided to travel around with this name.
You could say that I can look back now on 9 years of living partly in nomadic style. What I used to be afraid of I decided to do anyway. Cause it is never too late. No matter your age. No matter your circumstances.

In 2014 and after my dog died I left my place in Ghent after a long time.
Basically only looking for a better climate - to improve my health - but I discovered a whole new world of being and moving around in this world.
Sometimes it was awesome, sometimes it was messy - and I fore sure did not see the pandemic coming - but I would not have wanted to trade this experience for any secure but more conservative life.

The adventure both started in Bruges (homebased) and a Greek Islands. In between I was in Ghent and Ostend (homebased) and mainly discovering the hidden gems in Turkey. And a couple of other countries.
Somehow it feels this being the end of a cycle. After my voluntary work I came back via a Greek Island living in Bruges again until November.

Meanwhile I worked on an artistic project. Slowly getting there.

And now it's up to me:
Or I go back to that solid live or I take the leap and make it permanent.

As my last voluntary work in that better climate showed me the possibilities...

I'm still a social introvert, I always will be. And I am glad I met a lot on my way doing similar things. But my view on both the world and myself is completely different now.

So whatever I decide I hope to still learn and meet some of you the last three months of this 9 year cycle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's an interesting way of meeting people with different lifestyles.

Interests

Intuitive drawing, fleamarkets, citywandering, ...
Living outside.

I like a kind of cozy, gypsy atmosphere in a green location whit mixed cultures, children running around and animals. An unjudgemental space where madness rules out fake behaviour naturally.

Loved to bike, due to healthproblems that changed in e-biking.
(Thanks to the inventor!!)

Love to learn Turkish cause the sound of the language makes me happy and the logic makes me puzzling,
Love to explore different cultures and somehow I love to be around Aegean & Mediterranean seaside.

I also like to be alone, just enjoying nature or take a brush and paint or write. Kınd of a social introvert.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Your name, Rabbit Proof Fence, Persepolis, La double vie de Veronique, La meglio gioventu, ...
Currently interested in the book Braiding Sweet grass.
