ABOUT US

Hey! We, Elisabeth from Germany and Daniel from Costa Rica, are an open-minded active couple that just moved from beautiful Sydney, Australia to Berlin, Germany. We love travelling, meeting people and learning about cultures and traditions. We lived in several countries such as Germany, Sweden, the US, South Korea, Costa Rica and Australia and are both very thankful and excited to be given the chance to explore so many wonderful cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being a fun and active multinational couple, we really enjoy and value intercultural experiences. We think that nothing is worth more than sharing cultures, traditions, diverse lifestyles and views. CS is a great way to discover places and gain a unique insight into others' lifes and culture. CS allows us to share our little world with people who are as interested and curious as we are.
Having mostly used platforms like AirBnB, we often experienced that it was difficult to get in touch with our hosts as they were often only interested in the extra money, not in a cultural exchange that we're hoping for. After only a few experiences with CS, we're now very excited to start a CS adventure.

Interests

Travelling, learning languages, meeting up with friends, academic research, cooking and baking, photography, movies. Food! We love international food! And good coffee.

Music, Movies, and Books

Coming from a background in Journalism, Media and Film, we really enjoy all sorts of movies and books. Although we both agree on some alltime-classics (Elisabeth: Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde, Daniel: Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Ecco), we haven't found our ultimate favourite... :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelling! Driving down Highway 1 in California, visiting German Christmas markets, celebrating New Year's in beautiful Paris, learning how to cook food in Thailand, jumping down the waterfalls of Costa Rica, diving in Panama... sharing great memories is the most amazing thing we've done.

Teach, Learn, Share

Coming from very different countries, Daniel and I love to share our traditions and perspectives. While it sometimes leads to funny misunderstandings in our relationship, we value the cultural diversity that we experienced during our many trips and living on various continents and that we're able to share that with each other. We also really enjoy making our many languages part of our daily life and helping each other understand our cultures better.
We're very happy to share all our knowledge, our skills and experiences with everyone and are always keen to learn from others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We love to talk about all the countries we visited and would love to hear about our host's/surfer's experiences. We want to bring our countries and cultures to anybody who is interested in them. We also love to bake and cook, exchanging recipes or cooking together is always a wonderful way to learn about other cultures! :)
