I had a make-believe major in college and now I'm a freelance copy editor for the University of Chicago while I attempt to finish my first book or decide on a PhD program. Or grow up and get a real job.

History, literature, Marx, historical materialism, intellectual history, economics, politics, musical theory, dead white Jewish men from Frankfurt in the 1930s, structuralists, and a bunch of other stuff that's interesting (to me) but irrelevant to the larger functions of the everyday world. Everyday, I like iced tea, Bond movies, sunny days that aren't humid, certain silly video games, the hookah, and my rabbit, Henry. Oh yes, and my husband, Justin. But Henry is the main attraction as Justin is busy with law school. You won't see much of him. He's an upstanding guy, though.

Movies: Amadeus and Being There. If you don't like these movies, I don't know what to say to you. Bond and The Big Lebowski are also clutch.

Music: You will be subjected to every song from the 1960s you didn't know anyone still knew about. The Kinks are a must around here, although I'm going through a Marvin Gaye phase right now.

I jumped off a cliff in Hawaii and into the most beautiful lagoon possible. Scratch that; it's not possible for anything to be so beautiful. I miss the jungle, and I miss the north shore of Kawaii.

I know a lot about a little (or a little about a lot?) -- such is the fate of the pseudo-intellectual (or academic-in-training). If you need someone to help you with a critical theory paper, explain why base-superstructure interpretations of Capital are stupid and how capitalism is derived from the commodity form, or brow-beat you into using the subjunctive tense properly, I'm your girl. Other than that, I can cluck like a chicken better than anyone you've ever heard (at least I got something from that fancy music school), and I take requests. In The Hall of the Mountain King is the perennial favorite for chicken-opera.
