About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To enjoy every minute of time that I waste, and to learn everything.
ABOUT ME
An enigma wrapped in a mystery? I'm a bright-eyed student, not quite jaded yet. I'm writing a thesis that takes much too long to explain to people, but I love my topic even while it drives me insane by refusing coherence. I'm a total bookworm, but I can't survive too long without stimulating company and sunshine.
I really like my cosy, sheltered life here in Sydney, but I also find it exhilarating every now and then to just step out into the unknown. I'm very open to totally random events, unexpected meetings, and chance encounters. I have a lot of curiousity about the world, and I'm pretty good in a crisis.
Oh, and I'm a vegetarian but I'm not militant about it, and I don't judge my friends.
PHILOSOPHY
One of my favourite philosophers declared that an unexamined life is not worth living. But at least half the time I find myself doing things, and only examining my choices in the brilliant light of hindsight. And after examining my life so far in excruciating detail, there might be moments I regret, but almost nothing I would change. So I think my personal philosophy would charge me to just go ahead and live a life worth living.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've done heaps of "unofficial" hosting over the years. Friends, friends of friends, and virtual strangers have found a spot on the floor, in a reclining chair, or the edge of my bed (the ones that were clean, well-mannered, smelled nice and were potentially huggable without extreme awkwardness). I like to think that one day I could also surf my way around the world depending on the kindness of strangers. Living in a tiny studio (without a couch) does make it hard to host much, but if you're visiting Sydney and looking for a friendly coffee, especially in Newtown or Glebe, I can pick a great cafe.
Interests
Reading, writing, five hour conversations, skipping from cafes to bars as the afternoon wears on, the vertigo and breadth of vision from standing at the top of tall of buildings, being on the water, dancing all night, watching the world go by.
