My husband Wayne and I are travelling the world this year attempting to see and meet people from every walk of life in many countries. We are fun and enthusiastic people who enjoy new experiences! We are writing about our experiences on the road in our blog, and sharing our experience one mini-vlog at a time on Instagram! We moved to Thailand in December of 2017 as part of our year long adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are trying to remotely work for the first time ever, and it means that we need to cut costs. More importantly, we want to experience life with the locals! We want to be able to meet people and share their lives and experiences even if it's only for a short while! We also have our little friend in the form of a Funko Pop Doll named Groot, who is sharing his adventures with everyone he meets!

Interests

I love to read especially sci-fi and fantasy. Wayne is the same. We are known as the 2 Geeks and a
Backpack and part of our interests are finding the geek side of life all around the world! Our motto is to eat, geek, travel, repeat. I am a cosplayer at comic cons and have done several. My favourite was my Green Lantern costume. I loved making it! We love to explore, and usually just start walking, and seeing what we find along the way. In the 7 countries that we have been to, we have always found amazing buildings, stunning graffiti and lovely people. Friends have no language barrier!! I am also an amateur photographer, and I have been using a manual camera to explore my world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a huge fan of anything Issac Asimov, David Eddings and all of Sherlock Holmes. On the fantasy side, it's all about Raymond Feist and Anne McCaffrey. I also have a very soft spot for Ms Jane Austen, enough that everything that I think of Pride and Prejudice I get mad at Wickham for being so villainous. I love music and its hard to pinpoint what genre I love best. With movies, its all about the blockbusters, especially the Marvel ones!(Did I mention I love love love comic books? I'm still holding out hope that a decent Green Lantern movie may someday be made!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think an amazing thing I have done, is to make the attempt to travel the world. My husband and I left everything behind to explore the world around us. These days with so much social media around us, the average person can see the world at the touch of a button. However, I want more than that. I don't want to experience the world through photos and videos of someone else. I want to experience the reality of the world, meet people and see what it's really like. Another thing I have done that was cool...was to climb a waterfall.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to share what I have learned about life and people with others. I want to learn how other people spend their days in other parts of the world. I would love to share my love of the geeky side of life with my friends and the friends I haven't met yet!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my love of life, and comics. Every day, every corner can be a new adventure if you just forget that it's a normal day. No day is normal when you explore. I would love to share my love of travelling locally to learn about where I am currently living. Despite being a lifetime citizen of my home in Toronto, Canada I embarked on a year of travelling my city, and I was amazed at what I found! I would love to show my hosts how to do that!
