Overview
About Me
Hi! I’m Berenice, a tacos lover Mexican passionate about environmentalism.
I’m currently pursuing a Master’s degree while leading a project called Rescate de Isla Basura, focused on sustainable waste management, improving local economies.
I’ve performed in musical theater and love dancing and singing whenever I can.
Sports are another big part of who I am: I’ve been playing basketball and flag football since I was 12.
I'm an amateur craft beer taster, and a cycling and hiking lover.
Sunrises and sunsets are my rituals, I honestly feel my life isn’t complete without chasing them.
I’m always excited to meet new people, learn from different cultures, and share good conversations, laughs, and adventures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m currently traveling to Linköping for a research stay at the university, working on projects related to waste management and green energy.
Finding a place to stay has been a bit challenging, so I’m hoping Couchsurfing can help me connect with kind locals while I settle in and find more permanent accommodation.
Beyond that, I believe the best way to experience a new place is through its people
Music, Movies, and Books
I have a deep love for oldies, rock, punk, boleros, and Latin rhythms.
When it comes to movies, I’m a huge fan of psychological thrillers, but some of my all-time favorites include A Walk to Remember, Finding Nemo, The Chronicles of Narnia, and the legendary Matilda.
I’m passionate about reading and writing poetry. Five Chimneys and Blink are two books that have truly stayed with me, and Emily Dickinson is my favorite poet, her words never fail to inspire me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most incredible experiences of my life has been co-founding Rescate de Isla Basura.
Together with a friend, we discovered a small island in a critical state of pollution, yet incredibly rich in biodiversity. We couldn’t just walk away, so we decided to take action.
Since January 2024, we’ve been working to rescue and restore this place. What started as a simple clean-up effort has grown into a full environmental project combining science, community work, and education.
This project has opened incredible doors for me , indeed it’s the reason why I’m currently in Sweden.
Being part of this movement reminds me every day that real change starts when you dare to act.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’d love to share anything you're curious about me.
I'm always excited to learn about your language, culture, and the unique things that make your home special.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a little bit of Mexico’s colors, music, and culture.
If you're curious, I’d be happy to teach you a few basics of basketball, flag football, or even some fun moves from musical theater!
I am always ready to talk about of taking care of the environment while we are drinking a good craft beer.
I’m easygoing and respectful for the personal space and time.
