À propos de moi
CURRENT MISSION
See more of China and learn as much as I can.
ABOUT ME
I am currently living in Nanjing, China teaching English literature. I spent the previous year teaching ESL in Tokyo and am enjoying the change of life here in the Middle Kingdom. Recently discovered NeTease Music and am happy to have a music streaming website that works without a VPN. I can use more time in my day, but am trying to do as much as I can with my limited 24 hours.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I don't have much courchsurfing experience just yet (only in northern India), but have participated in ridesharing many, many times and have had great success there! You get to meet new people from all over the country and help someone out at the same time. It's a great system.
Centres d'intérêt
Traveling, reading, biking, hiking, daydreaming on buses, playing in the sand, finding cool rocks, obsessively browsing Pinterest, trying new foods, and people watching.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
My nose is in a book more often than not. I love sci-fi and distopia novels. I just started the second book in the Ender's Game series by Orson Scott Card, finished the Jump 225 trilogy by David Louis Edelman, in the middle of the Prophecies series by Linda Hawley, finished the Ice Dragon by George R. R. Martin, and am looking forward to starting another Ian McDonald book soon.
Movie wise, I like them animated! Just finished Summer Wars directed by Mamoru Hosoda (also directed The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.) Will watch anything Miyazaki. Nothing too dark, but I like things set in the near future about how things might be.
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
One of the most amazing things I have done is kept a house plant alive for going on five years. You'd think with a family of farmers I would have more of a knack for these kind of things. Of course it is a ficus and I think those things are indestructible.
EDIT: That poor plant was left two countries ago. But it has a better life with some biology grad students.
Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes
Probably candy that I usually have stuffed in my pockets or book recommendations!
