About Me

I'm a 27 year old Boston native, and recently earned my Master of Science in Oceanography. I now live in Washington, DC. I love spending time with my friends and am looking to make even more awesome, exciting friendships abroad!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a great way to meet local people and explore a new city. In Croatia, I spent a night with a host and his French guest drinking homemade liquors and sharing stories to the very early hours of the morning. I later met that same French guest several weeks later in his hometown for a weekend drinking wine, eating cheese, and practicing my French! In other cities I've gone to local couchsurfing events to meet both locals and travelers to share experiences and explore the city with. I learn so much more from couchsurfing that from a travel guide book!

Interests

I love engaging in a range of activities, from staying in for a night of board games with friends or hosting a potluck dinner party, to going out dancing or to a comedy show, to hiking and exploring natural wonders. I'm a city girl who has worked for the National Park Service for several years and now the Environmental Protection Agency, so I like to balance my life with both urban and off-the-beaten-path adventures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Mostly pop or indie (Taylor Swift, The Civil Wars, Laura Marling)
Movies: Almost anything!
Books: Prefer non-fiction. I love reading about real people and real events from different countries and periods.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once spent five nights on a research vessel near the Bermuda Triangle, helping perform water monitoring. This was no vacation cruise! Working/living/sleeping onboard a research vessel was a unique opportunity, and I got to meet researchers from various institutions working on different projects.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
