To see how far I can go and be in the zone!
Hi, I'm Elle! I'm currently studying IT management and German at university. I have a great love for foreign pick-up lines, quotes I wish I’d written myself, slam poetry, the smell of new air, train travel, and detours. I am passionate about social entrepreneurship and sustainable development, big words that just mean being a decent human. I’m trying to start my sentences less often with “I” and it sometimes does not work so well. I think “where are you from?” is a much more complex question than most people care to think about. I think I would describe this point in my life as "in progress," and I would like to draw it out as long as possible. I am a traveler, a learner, a hiker, a self-proclaimed writer, a couchsurfer, and a questioner of things.
Stay young for as long as you can!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm a full-time student, studying abroad for 2015-2016 in Berlin and hosting travelers in this wonderful city! I've done a lot of surfing in the last few years and met great people in this community, so I am really looking forward to being able to host now and meeting people passing through or staying in Berlin!
Some people think I'm crazy when I tell them that I participate in couchsurfing, but I guess you just have to have a little faith. It's a two way street - opening your home up to a stranger and stepping into a stranger's home. I'm a proud couchsurfer and I love to answer questions about my couchsurfing experiences!
There is so much to say, but I really just like trying new things and challenging myself to grow and to question. I like to hike and I ran track for four years in high school. I love to be outside and in nature as much as possible, but I also enjoy being a homebody sometimes. I love to curl up in a cafe and read or write because I can't always be traveling. In the summer of 2015, I helped film two shorts about ethnic minority art in China, and since then, I've had so many ideas bouncing around in head, so I'm trying to learn more about filming and editing on my own. I guess that's the kind of person I am - I really like to keep learning and developing new skills. Above all, I love to create and share.
- track and field
Music, Movies, and Books
I'll try anything, but indie music happens to be what I listen to most. I love Regina Spektor, Lana del Rey, Amber Rubarth, Birdy, The Dandy Warhols, The Killers, Lykke Li, The Cinematic Orchestra, Milky Chance and a bunch of other eclectic stuff.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Teach, Learn, Share
I love people who are passionate about things, because they're the best teachers, and people who create, because they have the most fun. I love to hear, write, and share stories. They are everything too me, and I hope that you will listen to my story and share your own. I would be happy to talk about social entrepreneurship, zero waste living, tiny houses, veganism and other diets, and really any other topic you can think of. I've also been known to give pretty ratchet travel tips.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can bring a smile, an open mind, and stories for days. I'm a native speaker of English and Chinese, but I'm also learning German and Spanish and aspiring to learn even more languages, so I would love to exchange language and start a dialogue. I love to cook and bake, and I've been told that I make a mean chili (;
