ABOUT ME

Home isn't home unless friends feel free to drop by for dinner...I live in a li'l house in West Denver near Sloans Lake with my family - my husband, his/our teenage son and usually our dog. I moved here July 2018, still getting to know it!. I love walking and biking around cities and countrysides, listening to live music, hanging out in kitchens (cooking, eating, conversing), being outside among the trees, and generally exploring new landscapes and getting to know the people who love 'em.

I'm still pretty new to CS, but very excited. I hope to travel and host, exchange stories and laughs, and make more memories!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a great couch-surfing experience in Memphis with a great group of people. So much fun! My college's alum network has given me the chance to meet some fantastic women and enjoy their couches. :) Also, I've always welcomed friends and friends of friends to find space in my home.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

Hmmm... Hugo, UP!, Finding Never Land, and Amelie are all high up on my list. Will Farrel cracks me up. My musical tastes run the gamut, but I generally come home to Americana/folk rock, Motown, Gospel, and funk. I like books that take me new places.. I most recently read A Thousand Splendid Suns, but I think I liked Kite Runner more.

Sometimes the mundane is simply amazing. For some odd reason, the first thing that comes to mind is something of a couchsurfing story. At least 6 friends (almost all women) were camping out on the floor of a dear friend's apartment. The dear friend wasn't there. But her hustband-to-be-whom-we'd-just-met was. He was also there when, on New Year's morning, the toilet backed up like you'd never believe - a colossal mess for the new year. The AMAZING thing was the way four women rallied to this call for immediate action, kept the man out of the messy business, set out throughout the sleepy city to find the necessary snake, tupperware containers, etc, and cleaned the nasty mess up before the dear friend (who likely would have been horrified) returned. You may not find this to be amazing. But it was. And it's good, I think, for you to know that you'd have an experienced toilet patrol person staying with you. Just in case. ;)

Hmm... I love to explore the relationships between people and the landscapes they call home - and I love exploring my own all the time. As a grad student in urban planning, I study sustainable development and am always interested in engaging in conversations about alternative visions for communities - as well as what is precious about the present and past. I've lived in a smallish town in Pennsylvania (1st 18 years), in and around Boston, MA (10 years), in Austin, TX (9 years), in Buffalo, NY (3 years). I've traveled throughout many US cities, and also Mumbai, Varanasi, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, London, Sydney, Paris, Florence, Venice, and Cancun. I haven't done much traveling in some time and hope to do more so soon!
