About Me
ABOUT ME
Freedoms weighs heavy. Now that I'm an adult with my own car and money, it is solely my responsibility to make sure I don't miss the wider world. I'm being very diligent about this.
I almost always travel alone out of preference, but I'm happy to make friends along the way.
When I travel, I typically bring my guitar. I also have a cardboard dulcimer, but I'm really concerned about its structural integrity/fate if someone sat on it.
I also dabble in modeling, one example picture is provided. I'll happily throw in a free photo session for any photographers or hobbyists that host me.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm trying to figure this one out.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm looking to couch surf; my ability to host changes about as frequently as I move. Which is, at the very least, once every eight months for the past five years. But ask anyways.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I went couch surfing in Oak Ridge, TN and it was incredible. My couch surfing buddy and I recently rode in a helicopter over NYC, so I'd say a lot of good has come of this. (Interestingly, a few days after our ride, one of the helicopters from the same company crashed into the Hudson- I guess we're lucky.)
Interests
Right now, I'm pretty heavily into my research. I have a few other interests.
-I'm an avid musician and performer. I play at restaurants, street corners, and front porches. I'm thrilled to play with and for anyone! Aside from performing, I get a big thrill out of synthesizers and digital recording.
-Fine arts in general- I dabble in poetry, drawing and oil pastels, and like to make semi-tacky compositions to prank art professors. I enjoy watching movies for the hell of it, be they bad (The Room), epic (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly), frightful (any Korean horror movie, del Toro) or underhandedly comical erotica loosely disguised as foreign art house on Netflix.
-I'm a big proponent of trying something new for a good story for my future grandkids.
-I love dogs, and probably will get excited over whatever pet you put in front of me. Except rabbits, I like to eat those.
-I like puzzles and chess and other things that I'm not particularly good at.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Anything suspenseful. Mel Brooks, Forrest Gump.
Music: I confess that classic rock and metal (Iron Maiden, GnR) are my first loves. But, I've got a huge soft spot for folk, Irish and blues music.
Books: Most of what I read is nonfiction, such as books on the history of mathematicians, chaos, cognizance, and other pieces that straddle the line between science and philosophy. But when I do read fiction, it's Terry Pratchett or Orson Scott Card and the like.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
O'Brien's are descended from the great warrior Brian Boru, the closest Ireland ever came to having a king. He used to rule from the Hill of Tara. I climbed it! Notably, I also slipped on it into some sheep dung, and had to fashion a makeshift washing machine out of a whirlpool-jet bathtub in order to get my pants clean. In the end, I just threw those pants out.
