Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well, I just heard about it today! So I'll start-er-off by being a very quiet and tidy couch surfer who won't raid your fridge. The first thing that comes to mind about this project is how it can foster some fantastic conversations... so let's turn of the t.v. or stereo, put away the computer and regale each other with tall tales!
I don't own a couch right now. But I sure like sleeping on them.
Speech, trains, piano (Chopin!!! Mendelssohn!!!), rich soil, 24-foot sloops, tying knots, intentional communities, the teva sandals that have not one t-strap but two extra straps, putting the bit in the horse's mouth, replanting beets and cabbages, skinnydipping, sitting on city steps at night, incense, morning yoga, soy yogurt, foreign films, Che, diaper butts, rolled cigarettes, all-nighters, theatre cliques.
Music, Movies, and Books
All mixed together: Crime and Punishment, The Golden Compass, The Fountainhead, Catcher in the Rye, The Awakening, The Book of Disquiet, The Motorcycle Diaries, True West, Amelie, Dry Lips Oughta Move to Kapuskasing, Winesburg Ohio, On the Road, Dharma Bums, Turtle Island, Junkie, The Dreamers, Modest Mouse, Joanna Newsom, Iron and Wine, Lolita, Death in Venice, The Stranger, Metamorphasis... euh...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My friend has seen a pig eat a chicken, live and raw. Not really the most amazing thing I've done or seen, especially since I neither saw nor did it, but it makes for interesting imagery.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you have a piano, I can teach that.
We can play improv games, or I can regale you with a character or story.
Together we can rediscover the art of conversation... what tickles your fancy? Che Guevara? Permaculture? Medical anthropology? Theatre for social change? Poisonous toads in Haiti? Rubber ducks?
