Hi! I'm Ellen, and I'm originally from Springfield, Illinois in the Unites States. I've bounced around a lot in the last few years, and these new and varied places and experiences - and the people I've met along the way - have taught me much about myself and the sort of path I'd like to take. My experiences in living in intentional community have most notably shaped the person I currently am -- and I somehow continue to long for both the rootedness found in community over time and the freedom that comes with open-ended travel. Traveling the way of my heart for now... :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm unable to host at the moment, as my "home base" is with my parents for the time being and I don't foresee many travelers passing through this part of the US anyway -- but I look forward to the day I'm able to extend hospitality to fellow travelers from around the world.

I'm also making some moves, though, as I'm ready to get out and create some new forward movement. I'm finally listening to what my heart wants, and resisting all the pressure to "face reality, settle down, secure a career," etc. I'm heading to Guatemala to study Spanish and travel around for a while. I am so excited to do this for myself, and meet others along the way who understand this "more" to life. Simply reading about others' dreams, adventures, and musings on the site makes me feel connected and understood... what a lovely, trusting community!
