About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Absorb.

ABOUT ME

Hello everyone! I'm a envi-studies and geology student at Wellesley College. Seriously, one of my greatest joys in life is getting to know new people. And as you can probably guess, that usually comes hand in hand with traveling.

I love people, being outside, rocks, and dogs. And science. Don't go to a museum with me though, because I'll read everything and have to be dragged away.

PHILOSOPHY

If you ask me for some of them, I'd gladly share.

This includes the Bertie-Ernie principle, the Tupperware rule, the "Scare it Out" method, and my feelings on first drafts.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfing makes instant friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

LOVE IT. There's no other way I travel. Really, I will have to be forced to stay in a hotel.

Interests

Geology, hiking, climbing, physics and math, dumb jokes, theater, poetry, playing folk music, knitting, dancing, politics, reading, running, biking, walking, snorkeling, wandering. I prefer washing dishes to doing laundry. I am easy and clean, except that I despise wearing shoes and enjoy the feeling of dirt...erm, sediment. Also dogs. I can't even tell you how much I love dogs (especially my sweet ugly mutt who lives at home).

Music, Movies & Books

My tastes are like pornography. Hard to define, but I know it when I see it.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

The most incredible moment of my life was watching my 83-year old Gran and Grandmom smooch standing triumphantly 1000ft above Oeschinensee in the Swiss Alps.

Mind you, my grandparents have been fit and healthy all their lives, but the reason we were in Switzerland was to take the three-generations of the family on one last big hiking hurrah. We had first hiked up to the cirque, and then hiked around the cirque, missed a path back down, and had to keep going. By the time we reached the top, Gran was shuffling along narrow paths and just barely keeping his footing over little wet springs. We had to sing him songs to rally his strength. Grandmom was worried sick and tied a rope between his waist and hers. But when we made it to the highest summit of the hike, we looked out over a crag onto the most spectacular green-blue lake and snowcapped peaks we had ever seen. Gran and Granmom heaved a sigh of relief, high fived each other, and standing near the edge of the protruding rock over the lake they proceeded to shakily share a peck.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share a good conversation, free things, really excellent dumpster diving, interesting books, scientific oddities, and an extensive collection of gorgeous colorful maps.

Everything I cook somehow ends up tasting like mustard, curry, or balsamic vinegar. Not a huge problem, because they are all delicious. But still. Please share some cooking expertise. I also want to brush up on bike repair skills, and I would love to learn more languages - or even just listen to them. The sounds are amazing.
