About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Here is not Everywhere.

ABOUT ME

I'm just another girl from the suburbs looking for something more. I like being in nature, reading books, eating ice cream, watching movies, baking bread, and a thousand other things.

PHILOSOPHY

You can't take it with you when you die.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just getting started, but I'm hoping that I'll be an expert and life-long surfer/host after this summer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hope to have my first experiences this summer when I travel to Europe. After I return to my home in the fall I plan to open my couch up to other surfers and share my love for my home city with them and swap travel stories.

Interests

I have always loved being close to water, growing up I lived on a spring fed quarry. I became a canoe instructor at summer camps, and took white water rafting classes in college. Now my current love is sailing. I joined my college sailing team in the fall of 2011, and in the spring I joined a crew for a J33. I've learned a lot about sailing in the past year, and I hope to make it part of my lifestyle forever.

Traveling is very important to me. I am always dreaming of my next trip, even when I am alreay on one!

Music, Movies, and Books

Whenever I'm on break from classes I love to read. I mainly read whatever I can get my hands on, whether its mysteries, trashy romances, classic novels, memories or some obscure cookbook. My all time favorite book, which I continually re-read is The Great Gatsby. I can't quite explain my reasons for why this book is my favorite, it doesn't make me extremely happy or sad. It just always makes me feel satisfied knowing that others out there have the same deep feelings and ideas that I often have but am unable to express fully. But during the school year you'll most likely find me scribbling notes as I slowly page through a biology or chemistry text book in the library, which over the years I've learned to find some enjoyment from.

Watching movies is something I tend to do often with friends or just when I don't feel like going out. My mother raised me on a very classical diet of movies which has drastically shaped my taste to be different from my peers. I grew up with Gretta Garbo, Orson Wells, Audrey Hepburn, Laurence Olivier and James Dean. But I still love the classics like the original Star Wars and Blade Runner. More modern movies such as Lord of the Rings, V for Vendetta, and the new Batman are just some of my favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My mother was first to introduce me to backpacking. My favorite trip together is when we went to Isle Royale National Park when I was 17.
