Hi there! I’m Ellen, a marine scientist living by the ocean on Canada’s east coast.

I love traveling and meeting people from all over the world. Learning about different cultures, perspectives, and sharing experiences is something I really enjoy. It’s one of the best parts of opening my home to travellers.

At home, I live with my husband and our friendly cat, and we’re all happy to welcome you to Halifax. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me reading, cooking, tending to my garden, or making the most of our Canadian seasons outdoors.

I would say I am a down-to-earth and easygoing person. I enjoy both lighthearted chats and deeper conversations, and they’re even better with a cold beer in hand ;)

I'm on Couchsurfing because I'd love to meet with different people whom I might not speak with in my daily life in Canada. I'd like to connect with other travelers, share experiences, and hopefully learn from each other and have fun!

I know the importance that travel can play in life so I'm happy to belong to a community that encourages and facilitates accessible and budget friendly travelling methods for people from all walks of life.

Movies I'm currently mulling over... The Banshees of Inisherin, Jojo Rabbit, Don’t Look Up. Books... Too many to list, always open to recommendations.
