我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

Surfing in South East Asia, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Malta and the US. I have only hosted twice, as I am quite the nomad. Both experiences were during the snowy depths of winter in my pretty hometown in Scotland-once an Emergency Couch when a blizzard hit and then introducing a Brazilian couple to the concept of snow another time. I am an avid surfer, and when I finally settle somewhere for real, my door will be open to CSers, about which I am greatly excited.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to CS in Kuala Lumpur when I travelled around South East Asia 2008-09 and since that LIGHTBULB moment I have made great friends and opened my eyes to the possibilities that CS had to offer.: foods, delicacies, traditions, nooks and crannies that I would't have otherwise known about perhaps. My best friend, Amber, and I spent and epic 6 weeks couchsurfing Italy in 2009 and what an adventure that was! We met so many people in such a short space of time, every experience was intense and full on and full throttle! Like BAM BAM BAM. Thanks to this trip I decided to move to Rome because I simply fell in love with the Eternal City and felt the urge to learn Italian and start something new with myself.

THEN CAME 6 weeks of couchsurfing and camping in Croatia, Slovenia, Northern Italy and Malta in late 2009-this confirmed for me that CS is the only way to travel-had such a precious time.

2 weeks of sheer Surfing in Miami was a BLAST. What amazing hosts live in that city, I swear.

Back in Thailand for a month and have travelled around, loving life. I was looking to be hosted in Bangkok for my last week to get to know it more, that would be fantastic !!!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Discovered a secret road in Rome. Few people know about it and its significance- it overlooks St Peter's and creates the world's greatest optical illusion. You need to drive on a scooter preferably, in the direction towards the Dome and it appears like its getting smaller. Then you drive away from it and it become huge, like enormous! Best seen at sunset, or a lilac sunrise, which you get in Rome in winter. Probably the best thing in the world. Ever.

Enjoy 100% with your fellow surfer/host and make the most of your time with that person for you may never see them again. You can never make a second first impression! Also, I make good lasagne. And macarons, bit faffy.
