Enjoy the journey not the destination.

I've always had a love for nature, the outdoors and community, but my passion for travel started not too long ago. I left my job at a design agency to do freelance work and travel full time while driving a van around the US. It was a drastic change but led to an entirely new chapter of life. First was living in a minivan for 1 1/2 years seeing nearly every state, embracing the foods, arts, culture and people of each place. I rode a scooter (moped) from Florida to Washington state in 11 days with a group of friends. A much different way to see the states, going slow and taking the backroads I bought an old motorcycle in the midwest and rode with a friend to the California coast. This trip was super bare bones, just motorcycles and camping for a month long journey.

This current trip to Asia will be my first time doing international travel!

I try to plan as little as possible during my traveling as to leave space for spontaneity. When a local invites you somewhere unique, when things go wrong, when you experience the kindness of a stranger - these things that you can't plan for are always the memories that stand out for me amidst travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was living in Seattle, I hosted quite a few people and loved it. this was my introduction to couchsurfing. I loved showing people things they might not have seen if they didn't know a local. This is what I hope to do as a surfer as well, to see a city through the eyes of a local.

What stands out most from my travel experiences is the people, its great to see a new place, eat good food, drink good beer, etc. But what stands out is the friends I've made through travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have an always growing love for movies. Ones that stand out in my mind recently are Arrival, Logan, Moonlight, The Handmaiden, Lion, Captain Fantastic.

As far as music - my tastes are pretty broad but depends on the mood. I most often listen to Hip Hop, followed by Indie, oldies, alternative R&B, and soul.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

the feeling of riding a scooter at 55mph across the entire united states in 11 days was pretty surreal.
