I'm planning the trip I've always wanted to go on...to Australia and New Zealand. Getting psyched that it's finally going to happen.

ABOUT ME

I love to travel and feel comfortable meeting all sorts of people. I'm a mixture of introvert and extrovert, though, and need some down time to recharge. I'm a vegetarian and an activist and feel it's important to make a difference in your own life and in the lives of people around you. I love to read and write and try to keep up a yoga practice to keep me focused.

PHILOSOPHY

I had a brush with cancer a few years back so I truly am grateful for every day I experience with a healthy mind and body. No regrets. I look forward not backwards and I try to treat others the way I want to be treated.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a leader and a doer. I don't wait until other people do something if it's obvious something needs to be done. I like to encourage others to participate as well and am very good at coordinating people and events.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I recently couch surfed during my trip to Australia and New Zealand and met such wonderful people. I intend to stay in touch with my hosts and look forward to being able to host others when I can. The personal connection was so special as I traveled alone in new territory.

I love culture: art, books, music, theater. I love to spend time wandering in bookstores, vintage clothing and knick knack places, and finding interesting places to eat and hang out.

I tend toward more serious indy films: drama, historical, literary, suspense. For music I like folk, rock, jazz, things like Indigo Girls, Cowboy Junkies, Sade, Joni Mitchell, Sting. I read a lot of fiction but enjoy nonfiction as well. Favorite writers include Toni Morrison, Margaret Atwood, Amy Bloom.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

In 2010 I was invited to participate in the LGBT Pride reception at the White House and I got to meet President Obama and VPres Biden. I sipped champagne while walking through the various rooms and then listened to the President give his address about LGBT rights.
