Overview
About Me
I've been nomadic for a few years now, if not for my whole life (it's a wild story, feel free to ask to hear it, if we meet!) I like to travel by following my gut, and ideally (but not always) slowly.
There have been so many times that I felt I must go somewhere or stay somewhere, have obliged the feeling then quickly found out why that is!
I value connections and it seems connections are my gift. I value really getting to know the places I visit. I'm a huge foodie, often eliciting a response of "Wow you like this stinky/fermented/odd dish?". So I'd say I'm more adventurous that the average!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to find interesting people and cross life paths! I want to get to know your culture (and you), your place in it, and your place in the world! I am a very easy to talk to person and have so many stories to exchange with you. Teach me about you and your country!
You know when you see someone on here saying: I am hosting people as a way to pay it forward, after all the incredible hosts who made my travel very special? That's going to be me one day, when I have a home.
Music, Movies, and Books
Sense8, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Mad Max Fury Road, Annihilation, Gone Girl, I'm Thinking of Ending Things, Arrival, Fantastic Fungi and How to Change Your Mind. bell hooks, Haruki Murakami, Han Kang, Kafka, Arundhati Roy, Sylvia Plath, John Berger. I'm a bookworm when time allows me to be!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1. Hitchhiked 11 hours JUST to see a whale in Kaikoura, South Island, New Zealand (I saw the whale, his name was Matimati, which means "fingers" in te reo Maori, because he had ridges on his tail)
2. Crossed the UAE/Oman border via a bus with no visa, prior bus ticket, onward flight or accommodation. Had the time of my life, obviously.
3. Tore ligaments in my ankle, then spent a week in Barcelona, climbed the La Sagrada Familia, then saw the Prodigy live in Transylvania region of Romania
4. When the Ukraine war started, I was in New Zealand but together with 4 friends, managed to get 800 euro worth of medical supplies shipped in and paid for.
5. Hitchhiked the famous 1095 route between Pai and Chiang Mai (670+ corners) on the back of a 125cc motorcycle with a muay thai trainer for 4 hours, just in time for my flight to Bangkok, to get a tattoo!
6. Saw the backstreet boys live in Saudi Arabia
7. Got tattooed by Ate Wamz during an Urpi Rice Ritual in Ifugao, Banaue, Philippines, then traveled to Buscalan on top of a jeep and got tattooed by Apo Whang Od, then by a 15 year old apprentice named Sky and her aunty, Sheila.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am making a deck of cards with interesting, thought provoking or deeper questions to have more meaningful and thoughtful conversation with the people around you! Let's play!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a good cook and mixologist if I have access to a well-stocked kitchen. I can exchange travel stories, some wisdoms life has given me, share my travel lists and tips, buy you a drink or a meal! I am full of stories, fun facts and curious questions!
