SOBRE MI 🌞

Hola, soy Eloïk, actualmente estoy viviendo en El Clot, Barcelona.

Después de haber viajado por unos años entre América Latina, Europa y mis queridas islas del océano Indicó (Mauricio y La Reunión), decidí dejar mis maletas en esa hermosa ciudad.

Tengo origines de Finlandia, Camboya y Francia y crecí en la Isla Mauricio, que amo muchísimo ❤️ Viví en Francia, varias ciudades, hice un intercambio de 6 meses en La Plata (Argentina) y viví dos maravillosos años en la Isla Reunión.

Trabajo desde hace un año acá en Barcelona como ingeniero Audiovisual (manejo proyectos y diseño de soluciones específicas para mis clientes, pero ya intentaré explicarte en persona).

Acá en Barcelona estoy explorando mi vida así como la ciudad y su gente. Por eso mi rutina varía muchísimo, yendo de Volley de playa, trail running, patines, yoga a dar paseos por la ciudad, comer en restaurantes ricos y descubrir nuevos rooftops hasta cocinarme cenas ricas con un buen vino o irme de fiestas sin haber previsto nada.

Cada vez que me encuentro con Couchsurfers, mi mente viaja y no sé cuanto tiempo podré aguantar antes de volver a tomar la mochila. Pero por el momento solo quiero descubrir otros lugares de España/ Europa, en modo de viaje bastante lento y ecológico.

De idiomas, manejo el francés, inglés y castellano con muy buen nivel. Luego, me gustaría mucho practicar los idiomas que aprendí pero que estoy olvidando un poco: mi portugués, mi criollo Mauriciano (nunca se sabe), y el jemer (de Camboya). Pero cualquier idioma nos vamos a ir acomodando jaja

HOSPEDAR Y ESTAR HOSPEDADO 🫶

Todavía nunca he hospedado a nadie porque no tenía la oportunidad, pero durante unos meses voy a tener una habitación más en mi piso compartido, así que bienvenides!

De anfitrión, soy cómo me gusta que sea la gente que me hospeda. Tendrás tu autonomía obviamente, y me gustará pasar tiempo con ustedes para hacerte descubrir la ciudad o hacer algunos planes (playa, visitas, comidas, tapas, deportes etc...), pero si estás cansado del viaje está bien también y puedes descansar!

De todas maneras, ya lo hablaremos antes de que vengas, para ver si estamos en la misma onda!

Respecto a la comida, igual tenés que ser independiente. Me gusta mucho cocinar y compartir pero no puedo asegurar que tendré energía para siempre cocinar ! Podríamos también ir afuera. Podrás utilizar todos los utensilios de la cocina, pero no te sirvas en el almacén sin preguntar. 

Estoy compartiendo mi piso, pero si no te lo ofrezco, no tomes mi comida !

Para empezar la conversación y pedir hospedaje, (así como para mostrarme que leíste toda esa descripción), por favor decíme tu forma favoritar de cocinar los huevos y dentro de las actividades de las cuales hablé, decime cuales te gustan más a priori para que podamos coincidir !

ABOUT ME 🌞

Hi, I’m Eloïk, currently living in El Clot, Barcelona.

After traveling for a few years across Latin America, Europe, and my beloved islands in the Indian Ocean (Mauritius and La Réunion), I decided to settle down in this beautiful city.

I have roots in Finland, Cambodia, and France, and I grew up in Mauritius, which I deeply love ❤️ I’ve also lived in several cities in France, spent six months on exchange in La Plata (Argentina), and two wonderful years on La Réunion Island.

For the past year, I’ve been working here in Barcelona as an audiovisual engineer (I manage projects and design specific solutions for my clients – but I’ll try to explain it better in person!).

In Barcelona, I’m exploring both the city and my own life. That means my routine changes a lot: from beach volleyball, trail running, roller skating, and yoga, to strolling around the city, eating at nice restaurants, discovering new rooftops, cooking myself a good dinner with wine, or going out partying spontaneously.

Every time I meet other couchsurfers, my mind starts traveling again, and I wonder how long I’ll resist before picking up my backpack again. For now, though, I just want to discover more of Spain and Europe, traveling in a slow and ecological way.

Languages: I speak French, English, and Spanish fluently. I’d also love to practice the languages I’ve studied but am forgetting a bit: Portuguese, Mauritian Creole (you never know!), and Khmer (from Cambodia). But really, with any language we’ll manage somehow!

HOSTING & BEING HOSTED 🫶

I haven’t hosted anyone yet because I didn’t have the chance, but for the next few months I’ll have an extra room in my shared flat – so, welcome!

As a host, I try to be like the people I enjoy staying with: you’ll of course have your autonomy, but I’d also love to spend time together, show you around the city, or make some plans (beach, sightseeing, food, tapas, sports, etc.). But if you’re tired from your trip, that’s fine too – you can just rest. We’ll figure it out before you come, to see if we’re on the same page!

About food: you’ll need to be independent. I love cooking and sharing meals, but I can’t always promise to have the energy to cook every day! Sometimes we can go out instead. You’ll be welcome to use all the kitchen utensils, but please don’t take food from the pantry without asking. Since I share the apartment, if I don’t specifically offer you something, please don’t help yourself to it.

To start the conversation and request to stay with me (and also to show you’ve read my whole profile 😉), please tell me your favorite way to cook egg and which of the activities I mentioned you’d be most interested in doing together!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people and know about your way of life! I want to share moments, stories and enjoy parts of my trip with people I can maybe be friend with for some long time.

Plus, I am a big fan of going to the restaurant and I think it is always more pleasant to go with someone, so both can taste more than it's own order 😁

Like 99% of Couchsurfers, I love traveling – especially to places I’ve already visited. Sports in general are also a very important part of my life. And I’m drawn to human and spiritual experiences – have you ever had one? Let’s share stories! - or anything open-minded people are willing to try!

I also love good movies, art, and learning about different cultures. The little anecdotes about daily life in countries I don’t know yet fascinate me.

I love sports of all kind but especially Volleyball. I would be glad to share some games!
I am fond of nature, trekking and the mountains.

On other sides I love to discuss about different cultures, especially on the differences we can see in the mindset of people from different backgrounds. This could be about the perception of work, values, sexism etc..

Cómo el 99% de la gente de Couchsurfing, me encantan los viajes, sobre todo los lugares que ya conocía. El deporte en general es un aspecto muy importante de mi vida. Las experiencias humanas y espirituales - Ya viviste alguna? Nos contemos ? - o cualquier cosa que solo las personas con mente abierta hacen !

Buenas películas y arte y cultura de los otros países. Me encantan las pequeñas anécdotas de como hacen la gente en los países que no conozco.

Adoro la montaña, senderismo, trekking, trail y la naturaleza en general.

También filosofía, feminismo. Me gusta también descubrir otras vidas qué las que conozco, cómo vive la gente, como disfruta del mundo.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm quite young so I don't know much of the world yet, but I would be glad to share what I learned, what I know and maybe some tips for your future travels. I could give you some tips if you intend to go in the mountains for trails or hikes!

On the other side, I often am the kind of people with some funny stories, I am quite shameless and can tell my deepest secrets to strangers I just met, even more after some beers! I love sharing parts of my story more than just where I live and what do I do for a living.

What I Can Share with Hosts

What I can offer my guests above all is good company. And then, if I feel inspired, I can cook delicious meals, show you around the city (both the main attractions and hidden gems), help with all the practical stuff, and take you to the best places to eat or simply have a good time!

We can be cooking together. I can teach you card games (do you know the Argentinian Truco?). We can share "matés" or beer, good wine. Always with a good chat.

Lo que puedo ofrecer a mis huéspedes es sobre todo una buena compañía. Y luego si lo siento, puedo cocinar platos ricos, mostrar lugares de la ciudades, los principales como las joyas escondidas.
