About Me
Hi,
I've spent the past 7 years in college and now I'm done I want to spend some time wandering and meeting people. I'm starting a big trip across the USA: sightseeing, local culture and volunteering.
Provisional itinerary:
Toronto
Detroit
Chicago
Milwaukee
Minneapolis
(?)
Vancouver
Seattle
Portland
San Francisco/Oakland
(?)
I don't drive yet--if I stay in the US for more than a few months I'll learn--so I sadly need to limit my couches to places where I can get around reasonably easily using a combination of my feet/public transport/a bike.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I travel to meet people and to get involved in the place I'm visiting. Staying with a host seems like the best way to get involved with what's going on.
Interests
My phd was in poetry, so I'm always up for going to readings and book launches.
I'm very involved in activism, particularly queer rights and feminism.
I love good beer (nothing 'lite') and friendly bars.
I'm as much of as foodie as one can be on a budget.

Music, Movies, and Books
Argh. Too much.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been fortunate enough in my life to visit a number of beautiful and remarkable places, but I'm the kind of traveller who loves the weird small stories that come out of travelling rather than the big events.
Which is to say, it's probably a tie between standing between the paws of the Sphinx, totally overwhelmed by how vast and ancient and beautiful it was; and the night I spent hanging out in the street in New Orleans with a bunch of gutter punks, selling advice ($1 for good advice, 50c for bad).
Teach, Learn, Share
I have no useful skills. I should really learn carpentry or something. If any of you guys are college students I can probably proof read your essays. I'm good at book learnin'.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have far too few practical skills. Price of a life in academia. But I am a pretty decent cook, and can cater to any number of dietary restrictions and preferences.
I love animals and will happily feed/walk/cuddle/spoil any resident pets.
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Austria, Botswana, Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Gibraltar, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russian Federation, Saint Lucia, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Ukraine, United States
Countries I’ve Lived In
