我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

After many years of going on vacation to big resorts, I gradually started to make a shift towards a different type of vacation. I wasn't satisfied anymore with lying next to a pool all day and stuffing your face to get the max out of the inevitable all-inclusive formula every touroperater urges you to take. You would come home, sunbaked and slightly more pudgy than when you left, and people would ask: "How was *insert country here* ?". Of course you mumbled 'fine' and went on to elaborate all the different kind of sunburns you got and spend 70% of that conversation delving into that one excursion you did that took up about 3% of your vacation time.

I don't want that anymore! =)

Although I'm interested in the architecture and art of a city/country (the big touristic must-sees), I'm often more intrigued by the people; how do they live, what do they do different, what are the little quirks and oddities of the country I'm visiting. As I see it, the best way to do this is through couchsurfing and not admiring the complimentary continental breakfast buffet at another Hilton clone.

I'm also open to hosting to give everyone the chance to travel and visit places, not only those with a big budget.

Books: Harry Potter (keep 'em coming JK), Dan Brown, Game of Thrones, LoTR, Chronicles of the Drenai, most things fantasy related really =)

Music: Elektro-swing or regular swing/jive/rock n roll, EDM. But I also enjoy specific bands of different genres like Bloodhound gang, Gorillaz; or specific songs of some genre.

Honestly, I've done great things, fun things, exciting things, dangerous things, but I don't think anything qualifies yet as an amazing thing.
