I like wool socks. I hate cotton socks. Economic restraints often force me to buy cotton socks. The saving grace is that cotton socks come in more exciting colours than wool socks. However, colourful cotton socks get dirty easily and this breaks my heart. I don't often wear my most exciting cotton socks because I don't like to see the colours tarnished.
I think etymology is hot. Quintessential, even. "Quintessence" arrives via French from the medieval Latin "quinta essentia," or "fifth essence." That is, the stuff of stars: stardust.
I love quirks. Nobody knows where the word "quirk" comes from but some connect it to the German "quer," from which the English "queer" derives. In this sense, I'm quirky.
I have obsessions: rock climbing, trail running, Ashtanga yoga, chess.
I nerd: Visiting Assistant Professor in la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, translator, PhD candidate in Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.
I have an activist heart, an environmentalist conscience, and an irrepressible but narrow hedonistic streak.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I haven't been active in the Couchsurfing community the last few years because my former roommate wasn't into the idea. Now that I live alone I'm excited to return to hosting and surfing!
