Overview
About Me
Born in the year 1992 in a small Belgian town called Bornem, but soon knew this two horse town couldn't keep me forever. With a sense of adventure and a strong will to explore the world, I joined the local scouting movement. From young age I learned to look after myself and interact with all kinds of people.
At the age of 18, I decided to start studying Chinese language and culture at Ghent Uni. In the meantime, I travelled large parts of Europe and eventually I even made it to my subject of study, China... twice.
Got my BA degree in China studies and a teachers degree in '16 and started working as a high school teacher straight away. Apart from the great satisfaction of being able to work with young people, teaching also gives you a two months of summer vacation! Ideal for some great travels...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm absolutely NOT the kind of guy who likes to stay in big fancy hotels without even getting a glimpse of the local reality.
On my latest travels, I always stayed at youth hostels. However fun it is to be staying near fellow travellers, I've always had a feeling my travelling experience was missing a genuine touch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelling through China: having a picnic on a deserted spot on the Great Wall, meeting new interesting people every time you go from city to city by train and teach each other our native songs, claim the beerpong champion title at Yangshuo's Monkey Jane hostel, being absolutely stunned by the Zhangjiajie national park,...
Canooing in Sweden, celebrating the first Dublin Gaelic football cup win in over twenty years, being present at the most lit party London has ever witnessed (or at least it felt like it to us),
Teach, Learn, Share
As a teacher, this is my favourite segment of the profile!
My biggest asset in life is my ability to learn and teach languages. I love being able to express myself to whomever crosses my path and discuss life, share experiences, sing songs, tell bad jokes... this is when the magic happens!
What I Can Share with Hosts
My excellent cooking skills, a song or two, basic Dutch lessons and a fine drinking buddy!
Never a dull moment with this guy around!
