Hello and Guten Tag Couchsurfing Community! 🌍 💫

We are Anna and Emilia, and we’re beyond excited to finally join here!
We’ve known each other literally since birth and have been besties ever since 🫶🏼.
Since we’ve shared every milestone in life, it was only a matter of time before we started exploring the world together.

A little bit about us: Anna recently moved from our hometown, Hanover, to Frankfurt for her studies in Media Management. Emilia is currently studying Communication Science in Hanover after finishing her apprenticeship. While Hanover is home, we both have a deep "Fernweh" (wanderlust).
While we are still dedicated to our studies and jobs, we don’t want to wait for "someday" to see the world. We are finally ready to balance our busy lives in Frankfurt and Hanover with some well-deserved adventures on the road. 🌱

We both always traveled together, since we were 10 years old! Our parents used to take us to summer camp and it was the best time always! We learned to love the simple life in tents, went canoeing (with no experience whatsoever, but the inexperience made it even more fun!), bravely (or naively!) jumping off cliffs into the water... We were those 17-year-olds who sneaked out of the camp at midnight just to see the real, non-touristy side of a city.

We are always looking for new adventures 🌞
We believe that a positive and spontaneous lifestyle makes every trip exciting, but for us, booking a hotel and only visiting the typical tourist spots has lost its sparkle...

To us, traveling is about the heartbeat of a city, which you can only truly feel through the people who live there. We want to experience a place for what it really is, meet people we would never have crossed paths with otherwise, and create memories that go beyond sightseeing.

For us, Couchsurfing seems like the most beautiful way to travel: It’s not about a free couch or fancy hotels, it’s about the stories, the exchange, and the human connection. We are easy-going, curious and bring good energy and stories from our lives in Germany with us. 🇩🇪

MOVIES
Emilia: Memorial of a Snail, Eternity, Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses (which we watched at least 100 times as a kid and pretended we were dancing barbies 200 times), Desperate Housewives, Greys Anatomy, Euphoria...the list goes onnnnn 🤪

Anna: Basically all movies that Leonardo DiCaprio stars in.

MUSIC
Depends on mood and place. Jazz house to chill or get stuff done, Ikkimel (feminist rapper from Germany) for self confidence or music from our childhood, which is designed for kids obviously: Rhianna, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears...all the powerful women of the 2000s and today.
We also enjoy techno for partying and Latino or Afro for dancing. Anna likes to sing, which she does very well with her angelic voice, so I would sneak in some ADELE or Bruno Mars in here as well in this list. ;)

BOOKS
Emilia: Everything from Schirach, Fitzek, and honestly mostly self exploring books or theories. 🧘🏼‍♀️

Anna: Honestly, the same books as Emilia <3

Emilia: Adopted my amazing dog "Gelli" (pronounced like Jelly) from Greece. 🍮

Anna: Oditioned for "The voice kids- Germany" 🕺🏻

Since we are both studying communication and media, we can definitely teach you a thing or two about social media, storytelling, or even some basic German phrases if you’re curious. :)

On the other hand, we are very eager to learn about your local way of life, your favorite secret spots that aren’t in any guidebook, or perhaps a local recipe that we can try to cook together. Most importantly, we want to share our positive energy, our time, and the excitement of exploring a new place through your eyes.

We would be more than happy to share a piece of our culture with you and would love to bring along some local German beer 🍻 or treats from our hometowns if you’re interested! 🍬🍫

Beyond that, we bring a lot of fun to the table: Anna is a karaoke enthusiast and is always ready to sing karaoke and Emilia will join and guarantee a good laugh. 😝

We are also a very well-coordinated team, so we’re always happy to help out around the house, cook a meal together, or simply share the many funny stories we’ve gathered from a lifetime of being best friends.
