About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Bachelor's Degree #2 here I come!

ABOUT ME

I'm originally from the Los Angeles area, but I transplanted to Northern California for college. I lived there for 4 1/2 years and absolutely loved it, but now I've drifted even further north and live in Oregon!

I am a pretty easy going person and tend to kinda go with the flow.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm going to cop out and use some quotes :
"It's all the same to the clam" - Shel Silverstine

"The only question that I find hard/Is do I like Kirk/Or do I like Picard?" -Weird Al

"Taking one's chances is a bit like taking a bath, because sometimes you end up feeling comfortable and warm, and sometimes there is something terrible lurking around that you cannot see until it is too late and you can do nothing else but scream and cling to a plastic duck." - Lemony Snicket

"whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea."
- e.e. cummings

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love playing tourist in my own town! These days I've had to retreat to "coffee or drinks" because school is kicking my butt.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, my boyfriend has hosted people through CS before and my family has hosted people from UK, France, Germany, and Canada so there's that. My first legit surfing experience was the first time I came to Oregon... and it was just fantastic! I hope I can provide as awesome an experience for others. I love hosting friends and strangers (who I think are just friends I haven't met yet...).

Interests

I like to read, do crossword puzzles, hike, be silly, work on my cross stitching, crochet stuff, sing and play guitar, explore cities, take naps in the sun, go out and have a drink, hang out with my pygmy goat, and play video games.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies.... Anyone that knows me will tell you that I still have many movies to see in my lifetime. But... I like
The Life of Brian
Captain Blood [Errol Flynn, c'mon!]
Pocahontas
Triplets of Belleville
Across the Universe
Moulin Rouge
Muppet Treasure Island
La Grande Seduction
Star Wars IV, V, and VI
Lord of the Rings (all!)
The Hills Have Eyes
The whole Evil Dead Series rocks my socks
Any and ALL scary movies. They don't even have to be good.
Annnnd just about EVERYTHING from The Coen Brothers, Robert Rodriguez, and Quentin Tarantino.

TV is not something I find myself watching very often, and when I do it's either online or on DVD. HOWEVER! I do have my shows.
Star Trek [I'm really an Original Series girl, but recently got into TNG.]
X-Files
LOST
Carnivale
Project Runway
So You Think You Can Dance

Music. I love music. If it has a good beat, if it's well written, and if it's not John Cage writing 4 minutes and something seconds of silence (because I think that's bullshit and don't try to convince me otherwise ^_^) I like it! I also have some guilty pleasures :D
Here is some music I like :
Decemberists
Bach
Beethoven
Muse
Metallica
Journey
Ben Folds
Sufjan Stevens
Neutral Milk Hotel
Led Zeppelin
Queen
Beck
Wolf Parade
Project / Greg Patillo (Youtube them, I swear)
Janis Joplin
I recently have discovered and fallen in love with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
Blah blah blah! ^_^

Books :
I read like a fiend. I love lots of books and it would take a long time to list them all but here are my favorite writers :
Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
Chuck Palahniuk
Rafael Sabatini
Jane Green
Christopher Moore
Terry Prachett
Oscar Wilde
Lemony Snicket
Moe Willems
Sophie Kinsella
Walt Whitman
Edgar Allan Poe
JRR Tolkien
Carl Hiassen

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Top 5 most amazing things that have ever happened to me :

1. Being serenaded by a pan-flute playing Italian Alps Border Patrol guy in Rome
2. Having poetry recited to me by a homeless man in Boston
3. Sleeping on the deck of a yacht in San Diego
4. Having my boyfriend surprise me with tickets to see my favorite comedian (Brian Regan)in San Francisco
5. Staying out until 6AM clubbing in France

Teach, Learn, Share

Everyone is fighting their own battles, big or small. If we can respect that and be nice to each other, the world will be a better place! Try to do something nice for a stranger every day.
