I think couchsurfing is about sharing... I share my house, my city, my way of living... I only expect respect, and some kind of sharing... music, cooking, experiences. If I say "my house is your house" it means: if you take a mug or a cup or a dish, wash it after using it. Just common sense, I would say.

I won´t give the keys of my house at first glance. If I feel I can trust you, I will give you.
