About Me
¡Hello!
My name is Emilio and I’m human being, traveler, adventurer, blogger and photographer from Bogotá (Colombia) interested in photojournalism, documentary photography, landscape, portrait and street photography. I have studied different courses and workshops In Colombia, Cuba, United States and Bolivia.
Discovered my passion for photography when I was a soldier for the Colombian Army in 2006. During the service, I was selected to be part of an international commission based in the Sinai Peninsula (Egypt) and there I started to shot with a camera instead of a weapon. I have been working in photography for almost 10 years.
Started teaching photography lessons in a foundation for kids and teenagers, then worked for magazines, agencies and other clients as a freelance photographer, but during the last 5 years I worked for the Colombian Government at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit and also at Social Prosperity, the entity that works against poverty in my country. Travelled all around the 32 departments of Colombia, and also been in 24 countries: Ecuador, United States, Aruba, Venezuela, Spain, Egypt, Israel, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Vatican City, Monaco, Cuba, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Panamá, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Kenya and Tanzania.
I’m a staff member and volunteer with 'Pocalana' foundation which works in Bogotá (Colombia) with homeless people and kids in vulnerable conditions. Internationally, I volunteered at a farm in Akureyri (Iceland), helped with an education initiative in Makuyu (Kenya) and helped with communication and marketing in Arusha (Tanzania).
Hobbies: I love mountains, music, camping and hiking. Practice sports and teach photography and arts. I Love animals and kids. Yellow is my favorite color. I'm looking for adventures with other volunteers and people all around the world, learn from their cultures and also develop my passion as a storyteller. Portfolio: https://www.emilioaparicio.com/
