Hey travelers!

My name is Emily and I am excited to welcome you to my home. I live in a small 1 bed/1 bath apartment near the heart of center city in Philadelphia. I am walking distance to many art museums, cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. I LOVE my neighborhood and I look forward to showing it off!

I am originally from Michigan; however, I moved to Philadelphia from Albuquerque, NM in 2020. I have also lived in Las Cruces, NM, El Paso, TX and Fort Lauderdale, FL. I really enjoyed my time in the Southwest. I am very new to Philadelphia and while it is very different from New Mexico, I am so happy to be here. The change was needed and is appreciated.

I am a graduate student, studying social work and human sexuality studies. I am fascinated by human relationships and attachment theory. I am also interested in medical social work, HIV/aids education, prevention and de-stigmatization, alternative relationship styles, open, honest and empowering individuals, couples and families to love and communication openly, honestly and vulnerably.

When I am not studying, I love to be outside. I really enjoyed living in NM because there were so many day hikes, camping, backpacking and exploring opportunities. Living on the east coast is very unique; however, I have fallen in love with wandering around the city and finding new walking paths that lead to wide open parks with great views. There are many opportunities for outdoor adventures in Philadelphia and the surrounding area(s). I also love and miss traveling spontaneously, dancing in bars, going to concerts and meeting new people. I love the arts, history and food too!

I have been on both sides of this couch surfing app. I used while traveling abroad in 2018 and I've also hosted travelers in El Paso and Las Cruces. I love opening my safe, comfortable space to fellow travelers, learning about others, swapping stories and expanding my community.

I listen to a lot of different music, ranging from classical piano to Megan the Stallion. It depends on my mood and how I wanna move.

I read a lot of books and articles for academic purposes and, sadly, I do not make time for entertainment reading.

I LOVE horror movies, although, I have scaled back because now I live alone... Some of my favorite non-horror movies are Almost Famous, 10 Things I Hate About You, and The Goonies.
