About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I and my hubby Keir just got hitched after living in South Korea for the last three years, where we worked as ESL teachers. We are currently relocating to Bath/Bristol area and buying a narrowboat. Excited!

ABOUT ME

I'm a simple soul. I love the outdoors, diving, hiking, camping and nature-geeking. I'm a keen lifelong learner, I'm currently learning how to grow food and live lightly on the earth through WWOOFing. My dream future involves a narrowboat, an organic veggie garden, and a bunch of chickens and ducks.

I love meeting like-minded people with an interest in the outdoors, a fondness for beer and a silly sense of humour :)

PHILOSOPHY

Live mindfully. Do what you can. Learn something from everyone. Say yes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My husband Keir and I love to hang out and play games :) we don't have much, but what we have we share with our hosts happily, and we try to bring a little gift from our previous place whenever possible. And we like to cook dinner for our hosts, if the chance comes up.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We couchsurfed in Iceland with a sweet couple from Sweden and England for three days. They had a lovely tradition of getting together with their friends who were also couch surfing hosts, and introducing all their couchsurfers so we could meet each other and chat and hang out.
We have also surfed with awesome people in San Francisco, Auckland, and Wellington.

Interests

Organics, permaculture, nature, hiking, backpacking, photography, reading, knitting, cooking, fermenting, canning, diving, wwoofing, craft beer, board games in the pub with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books- I read a lot and widely, love Murakami. Music- indie rock and folk, electronic, and old rock/pop. Movies- love Wes Anderson, Studio Ghibli, life-affirming stuff, dark comedy and anything with Bill Nighy or Bill Murray in it. Tilda Swinton is my ladycrush.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived and taught in South Korea and Vietnam while travelling the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn new things! I can teach you how to knit, share recipes and cooking/canning skills, and a few games :) I can also teach you how to crack a bullwhip, if you happen to have one on you!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Keir and I are both courteous and conscientious hosts and guests. We keep our stuff together and tidy. We don't spend hours in the bathroom. We appreciate privacy and consider the privacy of others, but we are also easygoing and enjoy a bit of company, so we tend to let our guest/host lead with hanging out time/dinner/pub or whatever.

If you accept me (or both of us) for a couchsurfing visit, I like to bring a 'couchwarming' gift and I love to cook for my hosts/guests. Keir and I love to play games, and we can teach you one or two if you like!
