Overview
About Me
An American studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark and staying with a host family. Trying to make the most of my time here to see both more of Denmark and Europe. I've always dreamed of travelling and learning about other cultures and cities and now I finally have the time and resources to do it.
I'm really just a big gay nerd who loves learning about new things, whether they be SciFi universes or new cultures and places.
I unfortunately cannot host anyone at the moment since I'm staying with a Danish family, but once I get back to Chicago I'll be able to host people visiting the States or travelling through them!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love seeing more than just the tourist destinations in a city and learning about the local life and culture, and Couchsurfing seems like a great way to do that. I also enjoy solo travelling and Couchsurfing is a great way to meet both locals and other travelers. Meeting new people is something I've gotten so much out of in my travels so far, you never who is going to change how you view the world!
TLDR; I want to meet cool people and learn about cool new things and places

Music, Movies, and Books
Action movies are always a fun time. Some favorites are Max Max: Fury Road, most Marvel movies (especially Captain America: The Winter Soldier), I really want to see Atomic Blonde again too!
SciFi movies are also a personal favorite! Highlights include The Martian (almost as good as the book), Arrival, and the first two Terminator Movies.
Favorite books include The Martian, Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead (the sequel), the entire Harry Potter series, and The Time Traveller's Wife. Nonfiction favorites include just about any well written biography (like Ron Chernow's Hamilton biography) and anything by Malcolm Gladwell.
My favorite artists at the moment include Lin Manuel Miranda, Pentatonix, Ed Sheeran, and The Weepies. I'm also big into musicals with Hamilton claiming the top spot. Dear Evan Hanson is also up there at the moment, along with classics like Les Miserables, Little Shop of Horrors, and, of course, Legally Blonde the Musical.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went on a solo trip to the French Alps and went hiking! I climbed most of the way up a mountain and back down, and doing the whole trip by myself was an amazing experience. I met some amazing people at the hostel I stayed at, saw a lot of amazing views, and did a whole lot of self-reflection. I think going on this trip alone was one of the best decisions I've ever made and really taught me a lot about how independent I can be and showed me another way to experience the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some yoga and how to properly say "Chicago." I can tell you how Deep Dish Pizza is really more of a cheese pie, but is no less delicious for it. I could teach you some basic coding too but that's probably not as exciting for most people.
I love learning about people and places and inside jokes. Every person has navigated this big rock hurtling through space in a different way and discovering those different paths is fascinating to me.
I can share my music, my positivity, my worldview, and my friendship :) Also I have pictures of my dog and she's really cute.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a native English speaker, so I can definitely help anyone practice English! I'm happy to share my experiences in both the US and Denmark and what it's been like studying abroad, as well as my own worldview and the path I've taken to get where I am now.
I think there's something to be gained by talking to and learning from every other person and the only way to find out what that something is is by meeting and talking to people.
