I am an undergraduate student at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York in the United States of America. I grew up in New York State and lived with my mother, father, and younger brother. I am currently studying Public Health and Microbiology and am in my final year of undergraduate education. I have been accepted into a US medical school and am in the process of deciding where I will study medicine next year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend, Christina Everdyke, and I are traveling to Europe during our Winter Recess from college this year. I have never traveled outside of North America and am very excited to experience all of the different opportunities the various countries I will visit in Europe have to offer. I want to emerge myself into the different cultures of the countries I visit. I want to meet new people and get insight into the traditions and daily lifestyles of the countries I will travel to. Couchsurfing, I think, is an excellent way to meet new people around the world and expand my horizons.

Interests

I am very involved in community service through Emergency Medical Services Work. I volunteer both on my undergraduate campus and in the local Rochester-area community as an EMT-B. I love the atmosphere of both helping others and using my skills in interesting and challenging ways.

I am a very social person and spend a lot of time with my friends and family. My friends are my main confidants. I love meeting new people and including everyone into my inner circle.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I love soft rock music. My favorite song currently is The Cave by Mumford and Sons

Movies - Forrest Gump is my all-time favorite movie. I like historical pieces that have fictional characters. That way, there is an interesting story but it has a basis of truth. Along those lines, I love the movies The Help and To Kill A Mockingbird.

Books - My reading habits are similar to my movie-watching habits. I love books that relate to reality in interesting ways. The One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and One Hundred Years of Solitude are my two favorite novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got accepted into a USA Medical School! This accomplishment took years of hard work both in and outside of the classroom. Thousands of hours of research, clinical service, and studying have all culminated in this achievement. I am so thrilled that in 4.5 years time, I will be a physician.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am American born and bred. I can share insights into our culture in the USA. I am very social and eager to learn new things. I will share my excitement to experience their cultures and willingness to share anything I can with them.
