Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Emily! I'm a junior at Cleveland State University. Next year, I will graduate with a double major in Biology and Chemistry, with a minor in Psychology. After I graduate, I will go to medical school to study surgery.
Right now I am working two jobs: one as a research scientist in a bioengineering lab, and the other as a supplemental instructor for Organic and Biochemistry classes at my university. I am also a certified Emergency Medical Technician.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I will be traveling to Europe for the first time on May 11th, 2016 with two other girls. I want to meet people from the countries I am visiting: England, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and France. I am also hoping to improve my German speaking skills while I am there.
Interests
I love dogs, reading, lifting weights, cooking/baking, and meeting new people. I also love to learn new languages. I tried to teach myself many new languages as a child, like ancient egyptian hieroglyphs and arabic but the language I know best is German. I took classes for four years.
I also competed at the NCAA Division 1 level in fencing for two years for CSU.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like to listen to upbeat music from the middle east like Tarkan, Capital T, and Alban Skenderaj. I like some american rap and also acoustic music because I play the acoustic guitar.
My favorite movies are Lord of the Rings, and I love TV shows like Grey's Anatomy, the Mindy Project, The Office, New Girl, etc.
Some of my favorite well-known writers are Richard Preston, Michael Crichton, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Jean-Paul Sartre, Oscar Wilde, and Anne Rice. I love classical literature and certain plays.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my proudest moments was when I graduated from my Emergency Medical Technology program in the fall of 2015. During the program I went on countless ambulance calls at all hours of the day and night and worked under extreme pressure. It was really hard for me because I was enrolled in the university at the same time, giving me a total of 21 total credit hours that semester alone. My EMT license is the closest thing that I have to being a doctor one day, which is my dream!
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you would like a small souvenir from America I can bring that! I would also love to talk to you about your traditions, recipes, and learn your languages better!
