About Me

After over a year of backpacking and CouchSurfing across three continents, the majestic Northern Sierras of South Lake Tahoe, CA grabbed my attention... and here I've swooned since 2014! I live in the mountains, teach yoga and somatic (body-based) trauma release, hike as much as I can, create art, host gatherings and workshops, play with my friends' babies (I just turned 30; all my friends are having babies), and save my money for the sole purposes of travel, adventure, and exploration of our incredible planet!

My perspective on life is continually shaped by my experiences and the people I meet. I feel I have something to learn from everyone. My lifestyle is greatly influenced by the way I was raised, which included living for most of my childhood in a teepee, earth lodge, under a tarp, and then in a cabin - all without electricity or running water. I was raised to live in harmony with the earth, connect deeply with nature, and be adaptable and flexible in life. I am passionate about sustainability, living green, and appreciating mother nature.

I love all things outdoors; great conversation; sunrise yoga; big dancing; live music; long bike rides; painting huge pictures; climbing mountains; and hot springs.

I have slept in a California King-size waterbed, and on the bare forest ground wrapped in an aluminum blanket. I can't decide which experience was better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

CSing has been invaluable to me in my travels. I've connected with so many amazing people and have made lasting friends all over the world!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Solo camping trips around the world and in my one true love, Northern California

-Hiking and climbing mountains all over the US, Iceland, Germany, Nepal, South Africa, Swaziland, Malaysia...

- Summiting 16,000 feet in altitude in the Himalayas in the middle of a December snowstorm in northern Nepal

- Traveling solo as a woman in a thousand crazy places - leaving me feeling empowered and helping me develop a razor-sharp intuition... :)

-Co-founding a trauma-informed yoga non-profit when I was 25, that now runs programs and trainings nationally

Teach, Learn, Share

-I have been actively practicing and teaching yoga for nearly a decade. I would love to share some of this wonderful practice.

-I was a vegetarian for 10 years and can show you how to cook all kinds of healthy, yummy, filling veggie foods.

-I grew up in the woods. For real. I was raised to live off the land, to find and eat wild edibles, to tell time by the sun, to survive in the wilderness. I love to share all things wonderful about living sustainably, in nature.

-My professional expertise is in trauma recovery, somatic (body-based) healing, and public (community) health. On top of being a wild(erness) woman, I'm also a huge nerd and can enthusiastically discuss and debate these and related topics for DAYS...
