About Me

I grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. My family and the community around me are very important to me, so I chose to stay in Lexington and attend the University of Kentucky. I studied Hospitality Management and Tourism with a Business minor. I went in to this field because I never let go of the dream I had when I was 12 to create a bakery/coffee shop that is like a second home to people. I've always loved that in hospitality you are given the opportunity to have a impact on someone's day in the little window of time you have with them.
I currently work as a baker and barista in two different, but connected local coffee shops, A Cup of Common Wealth and Chocolate Holler. This is a great home for me right now because the company seeks to embrace community, serve others, and create culture - which is a mission I feel really passionate about.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to meet new people and see different places! When I'm travelling, I would much rather interact and connect with someone so that I can learn about what they love about their home rather than stay in a hotel and just go to tourist attractions. I'm interested in seeing a truer picture of the destination.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got the chance to stay in Zanzibar, Tanzania interning at a hotel for two months. It was a really neat opportunity to stay in such a beautiful place and learn about another culture from very friendly and generous people.

Teach, Learn, Share

I haven't traveled near as much as I would like, but I can share about my travels in Africa and the couple of weeks I spent sailing in the Bahamas. Other than travelling, I am happy to share all I know about baking, coffee, and chocolate.
I'm really excited to learn from my future couchsurfing friends and hear about their lives!
