Overview
About Me
Originally from a small regional town in South Australia on the River Murray. Trained and worked as a Speech Pathologist in Adelaide for 10 years before setting out in search of other adventures.
Currently chasing summers for water skiing and cycling. Love getting outdoors, especially exploring new places by bike.
Love meeting people from all over, and learning about their languages, cultures and beliefs. I try to keep an open mind, and enjoy conversations that challenge ideas and build perspective.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love the freedom and flexibility of Couchsurfing. I prefer to make plans as I go, usually on recommendations from the people I meet along the way.
When it works out, CouchSurfing is the best way to travel because it’s such a good way to meet people and learn from locals.
I usually find hotels and hostels to be quite lonely and depressing. I’d much prefer to sleep on a modest couch at a kind stranger’s house than in a five-star hotel.
Only wish I’d discovered CouchSurfing sooner. I can’t host while I’m travelling a lot, but look forward to hosting once I settle down again.

Music, Movies, and Books
The Smith Street Band, Courtney Barnett, Hobo Johnson, Margaret Glaspy, K.Flay, etc. Triple J (Australian non-commercial radio).
Eclectic taste in many things. I enjoy podcasts and books that explore new ideas, ways of thinking, and that teach me how things work.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Converted a work van into a camper, which is now my full-time home when in Australia.
Teach, Learn, Share
Have always dreamt of teaching at a water ski school- maybe I’ll get there one day.
I love to share ideas and learn from others. I most enjoy conversations with people who challenge me. Healthy debate is great- wouldn’t a world where we all agree be boring?
Always keen to improve my knowledge and skills. Enjoy trying new things, learning new tricks, and meeting other people who also like to share and learn together.
I’m always keen to learn about other languages, and enjoy helping people learn and practise English.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m not passionate about cooking (I prefer eating!), but I can cook some basics, and I like to contribute by buying some groceries so that we can cook together, if that suits.
If you like to go out, I also enjoy sharing a meal or a drink/coffee and a chat. But if you’d prefer not to hang out too much, that’s okay too.
Helpful around the house. Excellent dish washer and bench wiper. Great with kids. Love pets.
If you are learning English as a second language and want to practise, I would be very happy to help. I love to teach language and literacy.
